If you haven’t seen this photo on my Flickr yet, you probably don’t know “the news.”

On 7 August 08, I got married! Here’s the story:

We went to go look at a room for rent then Gael said he had to pay a fee at a court for a traffic case he had a few weeks ago. So, we went driving in the direction of the courthouse but he detoured to the mall. He wouldn’t tell me what we were doing there just kept saying he had a “surprise.” I wasn’t too excited because, generally speaking, his “surprises” are new bottles of wine or something, LOL. So, I’m texting a friend of mine and he walks up to a jewelry store & says, “Wanna buy me a wedding band?” My back of my head got really hot and I felt slightly nauseous. I thought he was joking but I went along with it. I had no clue what was going on until we went to the second store across the hall and he said to me, “You said you wanted to elope so I thought we could do that today.” Quelle surprise!
Apparently in the county he lives in, you can’t elope in the court so he had to find a “civil celebrant” and get married at his house. We had an appointment so we picked out some rings, drove to the courts to get the necessary papers, then drove to the guy’s house. He was a retired colonel in the army and his house had surround- sound music playing. We said our vows then he took a Polaroid picture of us.
On the way home I called my mom and she about died. Later she told me when she called my step dad and told him, some guy shouted in the background, “YOU JUST SAVED YOURSELF 20 GRAND, MAN!”

So, we’re busy busy moving (back) into my grandma’s from his dad’s house. It’ll be sweet cause she’s only going to charge us utilities (about $100 USD a month) & Mouse can run around outside and lose some weight

I’ll be busy with the move and getting ready for a party to celebrate my marriage in late September/ early October so I might not be on very much for a while. Who knows, though!
