Well, I thought it high time to grace those of you who still stop by with a post. First off, I think I’ll only be posting when something of note takes place. That is, anniversaries, my birthday, holidays, et cetera.
Secondly, this is a birthday post!! On 2009 September 19 I turned the dreaded 25. As my younger sister gleefully informed me several times I am now a quarter of a century old
Nice. Very nice.
Anyways, my birthday was really nice. I was really worried I’d be by myself and lonely since no one I know wanted to hang out with me & Andy was working until 6pm. Luckily, my sister and I are now friends (did anyone else detest their sister until they [you yourself that is] were in their 20s?) & we hung out! She lives about 45 minutes away but comes into my town on Thursdays, stays the night at my house (my grandma’s!) then goes home Friday night after classes around here. So, I asked her if she’d hang out with me and, because I am literally the epitome of awesome, and she said yes. Hollaaa! My sister is pretty damn fun.
We went to a local Japanese bookstore where I got the October issue of Scawaii & my sister got me the October issue of Zipper (also some adorable panda page markers which may or may not be uploaded to Poupée in the near-to-distant future). After that we went to La Madeleine down the street. I’d never been there & was really stoked to go. I got one of their famous crepes, a fruit tarte, a mini blueberry muffin, and a glass of lemon-aide. It was all delicious except for the lemon-aide. It was hot & super sugary. I remedied this with a cup of ice which I slowly added to my glass. Of course it was wildly expensive at over $15 but I figured, hey it was birthday! Why not?
After that we decided to go to Tyson’s Corner & shop. I tried on quite a few clothes at H&M and ended up with a black vest & white collared shirt. Did you know I’ve never owned one? I thought it would be good for interviews! Unfortunately the vest didn’t turn out so good. The size I first had in hand was a tiny bit tight on my boobs so I went 1 size up. This was a terrible idea because the 1 size up ended up being too loose & therefore boxy. By the time I was able to exchange it, they were out of my size. Bummer. So I kept the vest and thought and thought about it and finally confided in my most fashionable friend S. She confirmed my fears about the vest so I immediately returned it. I can always count on her for her honest advice!
Anyways, I am deviating from my birthday story. (For more vest story, check here.)
After the mall we came back to the house and got ready for a dinner with my in- laws at a delicious Japanese restaurant. My in- laws are blessed with high- paying jobs & thus rented us the tatami room! Holllaaa! I went there on my 21st birthday & was excited to return. I had delicious duck, red bean ice cream, and sushi (not in that order, though). I got some lovely gifts (one is a gift certificate for a spiral perm where my mother-in-law gets her hair done!
) and had some lovely conversation.
All in all, it was the best birthday I’ve had. Ever.
Check after the cut for pictures!
